Authentic Cuban Cuisine | Chicago, Illinois | Est. 2007
Señor Pan was born in 2007 from a simple but powerful belief: that the soul of Cuban cooking belongs at every table in Chicago. Founded by a family with roots stretching from the streets of Havana to the shores of Miami, our restaurant opened its doors in the heart of Illinois with a mission to bring the warmth, color, and depth of Cuban culinary tradition to the Midwest. Nearly two decades later, that mission has never wavered.
Our Story
The name Señor Pan, meaning “Mr. Bread” in Spanish, is a tribute to the cornerstone of Cuban home cooking: the freshly baked, golden-crusted Cuban bread that greets every meal. It is a name that carries humility and pride in equal measure. From our very first day of service, we made a commitment to honor the recipes passed down through generations, using techniques rooted in tradition and ingredients sourced with care.
What started as a modest neighborhood eatery quickly grew into a beloved gathering place for Chicago’s Cuban community, Latin food lovers, and anyone in search of a genuinely home-cooked meal. Word spread fast. The slow-roasted Lechon Asado, the hand-pressed Cuban sandwiches, the fragrant Ropa Vieja simmered for hours in sofrito and spices — each dish tells a story, and our guests became part of that story.
Our Food
At Señor Pan, every plate reflects the vibrant culinary heritage of Cuba. Our kitchen is guided by the philosophy that great food requires patience, quality, and love. We slow-cook our meats, make our sauces from scratch, and bake our bread fresh every morning. From the crispy, golden tostones to the rich and layered picadillo, every item on our menu is prepared the way it was meant to be: with care and without shortcuts.
Our menu celebrates the full range of Cuban cuisine, from hearty rice and bean dishes like Moros y Cristianos to lighter fare such as our ceviche and tropical fruit salads. We also take pride in our selection of Cuban-inspired cocktails and freshly pressed sugarcane juice, offering a complete sensory experience that transports our guests straight to the island.
Our Community
Chicago has always embraced us, and we have embraced Chicago right back. Since 2007, Señor Pan has been more than a restaurant. We are a community hub, a place where families celebrate milestones, where friendships are forged over shared plates, and where the spirit of Cuba lives on in the middle of the Midwest. We have participated in local cultural events, supported neighborhood initiatives, and opened our dining room to the city’s rich tapestry of cultures and stories.
We are grateful for every guest who has walked through our doors, shared a meal with us, and trusted us with their hunger and their time. It is that trust that pushes us to be better every single day.
Our Promise
As we continue growing, our promise remains unchanged: to serve food that is honest, flavorful, and made with integrity. Whether you are visiting us for the first time or you have been with us since 2007, you will always find the same warmth, the same quality, and the same passion on your plate. At Señor Pan, the table is always set and the welcome is always warm.
